Promotions Lab: Horror Film Genre

I never cease to be amazed by the hoards of people who enjoy going to the movies to get their wits scared out of them. I will never understand it, but I realize I’m in the minority. Last year was peak for the genre, according to the New York Times and other outlets. Meanwhile, big-name actors and directors from outside that world taking a stab at it themselves (See what I did there?). Jordan Peele killed it with Get Out last year, and John Krasinski and Emily Blunt did the same in A Quiet Place this year.

It makes perfect sense for professional sports teams to capitalize. Many teams have already hosted special nights centered around a movie. It’s often one film about that particular sport. This season, for instance, dozens of minor league team celebrated the 25th anniversary of The Sandlot.

Why not host a night celebrating an entire, incredibly popular genre? And have a special post-game screening of one of the classics? There are so many directions to go in on a special team jersey. Here are a few I came up with …
